The ACT Legislation Handbook and ACT Cabinet Handbook, produced by the Chief Minister and Cabinet Directorate, provide background information about the development of legislation. The Legislation Handbook sets out the rules and procedures from developing an idea for legislation to the passage of the resulting legislation through the Legislative Assembly. The Legislation Handbook must be read with the Cabinet Handbook, which sets out Cabinet procedures. Cabinet procedures affect the production of legislation.
